The Problem I Saw
This one started because of a friend who teaches at a public school in Austin.
She was grading assignments late at night and using her phone’s calculator for every student’s percentage.
She said something that stuck with me:
“I spend more time calculating grades than giving feedback.”
Most online grading tools were:
- Full of ads
- Slow
- Confusing
- Required sign-ups
Teachers don’t have the energy for that.
The First Build
I decided to create something simple she could use even in a noisy classroom.
Version 1:
- Enter total marks
- Enter obtained marks
- Get percentage + letter grade
- No login
- No ads
- No clutter
- Mobile first design
I sent her the link.
She used it for one full class and texted me:
“This is the first time I graded without stress.”
That message told me this tool had a place.
Feedback From Real Teachers
I reached out to five teachers through her. Their suggestions shaped version 2:
- “Show pass or fail clearly.”
- “Add grade letters based on US grading scale.”
- “Make buttons bigger for quick tapping.”
- “Keep it simple. No unnecessary features.”
- “It should work offline if cached.”
One teacher said she used it during lunch break and finished grading 20 papers in 10 minutes.
How It Grew Without Marketing
EasyQuickGrade.com started spreading inside:
- Local teacher groups
- Facebook communities
- Private tutoring centers
- Homeschool networks
- Reddit threads
I never promoted it.
It grew because teachers shared something that saved them time.
Sometimes usefulness is enough.
Improving the Tool
Grading isn’t just percentages. It involves:
- Different total marks
- Weighted scoring
- Zero edge cases
- Non-numeric inputs
- Letter grade boundaries
- Keyboard shortcuts
I refined each part.
The calculator now gives consistent results and works smoothly on phones, tablets, and old laptops.
Why This Tool Matters To Me
Teachers spend enough time preparing lessons, managing students, and handling paperwork.
If this tool saves even 20 minutes a day, it matters.
Today it’s used by:
- Teachers
- Tutors
- Students
- Coaches
- Professors grading quick homework checks
Small tool, real impact.
My Plan
EasyQuickGrade.com will always stay distraction free.
No sign-ups.
No complicated dashboards.
Just a fast grader that helps teachers focus on teaching.
