What Is a Quick Grade Calculator and How Does It Work?
A Quick Grade Calculator is a free online tool that instantly converts the number of wrong answers on a test into a percentage score and letter grade. Also known as an EZ Grader or Easy Grader, it is used by teachers to grade tests in seconds and by students to check their score immediately after an exam — without doing any math by hand.
For example: a student gets 3 wrong out of 20 questions → (20 − 3) ÷ 20 × 100 = 85% — a B grade. Enter your numbers above and the result appears instantly.
How to Use the Quick Grade Calculator
Our Quick Grade Calculator is the fastest way to find out your test or quiz score. It uses a simple formula — total correct answers divided by total questions — to give you an accurate percentage and letter grade instantly. No manual math required.
What Is a Quick Grade Calculator?
A Quick Grade Calculator is a free online tool that converts the number of wrong answers into a percentage score and letter grade. It is also known as an EZ Grader or Easy Grader — originally a paper sliding scale used by teachers to grade tests without doing math by hand.
Our digital version replaces the old paper grader completely. It works for any test size — from a 5-question quiz to a 100-question final exam — and calculates your score in under one second.
"The Quick Grade Calculator is used by thousands of teachers to grade tests instantly and by students to check their scores before results are officially announced."
The Grade Calculation Formula
The formula used is simple and standard across all schools:
Score % = (Total Questions − Wrong Answers) ÷ Total Questions × 100
For example: 20 total questions, 4 wrong answers → (20 − 4) ÷ 20 × 100 = 80% (A).

📋 Paper EZ Grader vs Digital Quick Grade Calculator
The original EZ Grader was a cardboard sliding chart invented in the 1930s. Teachers would align two sliding pieces to instantly look up the percentage score for any number of wrong answers on a test of any length. It was the standard classroom grading tool for decades.
Today, the digital Quick Grade Calculator has completely replaced the paper EZ Grader — it is faster, works on any device, handles any test size, grades multiple students at once, and never gets lost or damaged.
