UET GPA & CGPA Calculator
Calculate your semester GPA and cumulative CGPA using UET 's official 4.0 hybrid grading scale. Supports both relative grading for theory courses and fixed thresholds for lab courses. Free, instant, no sign-up.
UET uses a 4.0 hybrid scale. Theory courses use relative/Z-score grading; labs use fixed percentage thresholds. Enter your courses, credit hours, and letter grades below.
Enter each completed semester's GPA and total credit hours. CGPA is the weighted average across all semesters.
How to Use the UET GPA & CGPA Calculator
This calculator uses UET 's official 4.0 hybrid grading scale. Theory courses at UET are graded using relative (Z-score normalised) grading, while lab courses use fixed percentage thresholds. Select the right tab, enter your courses or semester data, and get your result instantly.
UET Official 4.0 Grading Scale
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) uses a 4.0-point hybrid grading system. Theory courses are graded on a relative scale using Z-score normalisation against the class distribution, while lab courses use fixed percentage thresholds. To find your semester GPA, multiply the grade points of each course by its credit hours, sum them up, and divide by the total semester credit hours.
| Letter Grade | Grade Points | Percentage Range | Standing |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 4.00 | 80% – 100% | Excellent |
| B+ | 3.50 | 75% – 79% | Good |
| B | 3.00 | 70% – 74% | Good |
| C+ | 2.50 | 65% – 69% | Average |
| C | 2.00 | 60% – 64% | Average |
| D | 1.50 | 50% – 59% | Below Average |
| F | 0.00 | Below 50% | Failing |
UET Relative Grading (Theory Courses): UET uses Z-score normalisation for theory courses. Your final letter grade depends on how your marks compare to the class mean and standard deviation — not just your absolute score. Even a score of 75% may result in a B or B+ depending on the class distribution. However, once a letter grade is assigned, the grade point value is fixed as shown above. Lab courses use fixed percentage cutoffs.
Semester GPA Formula
SGPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Semester Credit Hours
Example: Engineering Maths (3 Credits) = A (4.0) + Applied Physics (3 Credits) = B+ (3.5)
Sum = (3×4.0) + (3×3.5) = 12 + 10.5 = 22.5 → SGPA = 22.5 ÷ 6 = 3.75
CGPA Formula
CGPA = Σ (SGPA × Semester Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours of All Semesters
"UET does not publish a fixed CGPA-to-percentage conversion formula. For official documents, job applications, and graduate school admissions, the CGPA on the 4.0 scale is the primary metric used by UET."
UET CGPA Requirements & Academic Standing
Understanding what your CGPA means at UET helps you plan your academic goals, avoid probation, and qualify for honours and competitive opportunities.
| CGPA Range | Standing | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| 3.50 – 4.00 | Excellent / Dean's List | Top academic tier — merit scholarship and exchange programme eligibility |
| 3.00 – 3.49 | Good Standing | Strong academic performance — competitive for placements |
| 2.50 – 2.99 | Satisfactory | Acceptable — aim to improve each semester |
| 2.00 – 2.49 | Minimum | Meets minimum graduation requirement — borderline |
| Below 2.00 | Probation Risk | Academic warning — may lead to probation or suspension |
Graduation requirement: UET requires a minimum CGPA of 2.00 on the 4.0 scale for all undergraduate engineering programs. Students with a CGPA below 2.00 are placed on academic probation and risk suspension or withdrawal from the university.
