Semester GPA Formula

GPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total GPA Credit Hours

Example: ENGL 106 A (4.00) × 3cr + MA 161 B+ (3.30) × 4cr = (12.00 + 13.20) ÷ 7 = GPA 3.600

CGPA Formula

CGPA = Σ (Semester GPA × Semester GPA Hours) ÷ Total GPA Hours

Pass/Not-Pass and Special Purdue Marks

Purdue uses several academic marks that do not affect semester GPA or cumulative GPA. P means Pass under the Pass/Not-Pass option and generally reflects C- or higher work. N means Not Pass. I is an Incomplete mark. W, WF, WU are withdrawal marks. AU means Audit. These marks should not be entered as GPA-grade rows in this calculator.

"Use only credit-bearing letter grades when calculating Purdue GPA. For P, N, I, W, WF, WU, and AU, keep the course on your transcript record but exclude it from GPA points and GPA hours."
