How to Use the UCF GPA & CGPA Calculator

This calculator uses UCF's official unique grading scale with 0.25 point increments — not the standard 0.33 used by most American universities. Select the right tab, enter your course data, and get your GPA or CGPA instantly.

1
Choose Semester GPA or CGPA Tab
Use the Semester GPA tab for a single term — enter course names, letter grades (A through F), and credit hours. Use the CGPA tab to combine all completed semesters. UCF's S/U, W, I, and NC grade designations do not count toward GPA.
2
Enter Your UCF Courses and Grades
Type each course name, select your letter grade from UCF's unique scale (A = 4.00, A- = 3.75 — not 3.67 like most schools), and enter the credit hours. Note: there is no A+ at UCF. Each professor sets their own percentage-to-grade boundaries in the syllabus.
3
Get Instant GPA, CGPA and Academic Standing
Your GPA or CGPA appears immediately with your UCF academic standing — President's List (4.00), Dean's List (3.50+), Good Standing (2.00+), or Academic Probation. A personalized improvement tip is also displayed.
4
Check Standing and Plan Ahead
Use the course breakdown bars to spot your weakest courses. UCF requires a minimum 2.0 GPA for undergraduate good standing. Many UCF engineering and science prerequisites require a minimum C (2.00) — a C- (1.75) does not satisfy these requirements.
UCF Grading System

University of Central Florida Official Grading Scale

UCF uses a distinctive plus/minus grading system where modifiers adjust GPA by 0.25 increments — unlike most US universities that use 0.33 increments. There is no A+ grade at UCF, and the A- is worth 3.75 points instead of the typical 3.67. Each professor has full discretion over the percentage ranges that correspond to each letter grade, which are always outlined in the course syllabus.

⚡ UCF's Unique Scale: Grades marked with ⚡ differ from the standard 0.33-increment scale used by most US universities. For example, UCF's A- = 3.75 (vs. 3.67 standard), B+ = 3.25 (vs. 3.33 standard), and D- = 0.75 (vs. 0.67 standard). Always use UCF's scale when calculating your GPA for UCF applications, scholarships, or academic standing.

Semester GPA Formula

GPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Letter-Graded Credit Hours

Example: Chemistry A- (3.75) × 3cr + Calculus B+ (3.25) × 3cr = (11.25 + 9.75) ÷ 6 = GPA 3.50

CGPA Formula

CGPA = Σ (Semester GPA × Semester Letter-Graded Credits) ÷ Total Credits All Semesters

S/U Grading and Special Grade Designations

UCF offers a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading option for certain elective courses. For undergraduate students, grades of A through C earn Satisfactory (S); a C- or below earns Unsatisfactory (U) and does not award course credit. S/U grades do not factor into GPA calculations.

Additional special designations on a myUCF transcript include: W (Withdrawal — does not affect GPA but appears on transcript), I (Incomplete — must be resolved within the instructor's timeframe or converts to F), and NC (No Credit — used in developmental courses, does not penalize GPA).

"At UCF, a C- (1.75) is effectively a failing grade for many degree programs — particularly within the College of Engineering and Computer Science and core prerequisite courses. Students must earn a solid C (2.00) or higher to satisfy most major requirements. Always check your specific program requirements."

Academic Standing

UCF GPA Requirements & Academic Standing

UCF monitors both semester and cumulative GPA for undergraduate academic standing. Students are recognized for excellence through the President's List and Dean's List, and face academic action for falling below the minimum GPA threshold.

GPA RangeStanding / RecognitionWhat It Means
4.00President's ListPerfect 4.00 semester GPA with 12+ credit hours — highest UCF honor
3.50 – 3.99Dean's ListSemester GPA 3.50+ with 12+ graded hours — excellent recognition
3.00 – 3.49Good StandingStrong academic performance at UCF
2.00 – 2.99SatisfactoryMeets minimum undergraduate requirement
Below 2.00Academic ProbationBelow minimum — risk of academic suspension

UCF President's List & Dean's List: The UCF President's List requires a perfect 4.00 semester GPA with a minimum of 12 graded credit hours. The Dean's List requires a semester GPA of 3.50 to 3.99 with the same 12-credit minimum. Both are awarded on a per-semester basis, not cumulatively.

C- Warning for UCF Engineering & Sciences: For students in UCF's College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Sciences, and most pre-professional programs, a C- (1.75) does NOT satisfy prerequisite or major requirements. A minimum grade of C (2.00) is required. Receiving a C- forces you to retake the course, impacting both GPA and time to graduation.

This differs from the standard 0.33-increment scale used by most US universities. Notably, UCF does not award an A+ grade, and the A- is worth 3.75 (not 3.67).
No. UCF does not award an A+ grade. The maximum grade point value at UCF is A = 4.00. This is consistent with several other major US universities including Yale.
The UCF President's List requires a perfect 4.00 semester GPA with a minimum of 12 graded credit hours. The Dean's List requires a semester GPA of 3.50 to 3.99 with the same 12-credit minimum. Both are awarded per semester, not based on cumulative GPA.
Not for most programs. While a C- (1.75 GPA points) is a passing grade and counts toward overall GPA, it does NOT satisfy the minimum grade requirement for most UCF major prerequisites — particularly in engineering, computer science, nursing, and core sciences. Students typically need a minimum C (2.00) to advance in these programs. Always check your specific degree program requirements.
UCF's Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option is available in certain elective courses. For undergraduate students, grades of A through C earn Satisfactory (S); a C- or below earns Unsatisfactory (U) and does not award course credit. S and U grades do not factor into GPA calculations in any way.
No. A W (Withdrawal) at UCF does not impact your GPA — it carries no grade points and is excluded from GPA calculations. However, W grades do appear on your official transcript and may affect financial aid satisfactory academic progress, excess credit hour surcharges, and enrollment status depending on timing.
UCF undergraduate students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for good academic standing. Students falling below 2.0 are placed on academic probation. Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 CGPA. Students on probation must raise their GPA within the next semester or face academic suspension.
