University of Florida GPA & CGPA Calculator
Calculate your semester GPA and cumulative CGPA using the University of Florida's official 4.0 grading scale. Supports UF's plus/minus letter grades, E (not F) as the failing grade, WF grade, and all UF-specific academic standing benchmarks. Free, instant, no sign-up.
UF uses a 4.0 plus/minus scale. The failing grade is E (not F). Enter your letter-graded courses only — S/U, I, W, and H courses do not count toward GPA.
Enter each completed semester's GPA and total letter-graded credit hours. UF computes CGPA by dividing total accumulated grade points by total semester hours attempted across all terms.
How to Use the University of Florida GPA & CGPA Calculator
This calculator uses UF's official 4.0 plus/minus grading scale as defined by the University of Florida Office of the University Registrar. Select the correct tab, enter your course data, and instantly see your GPA, CGPA, and academic standing — including President's Honor Roll eligibility.
University of Florida Official 4.0 Grading Scale
The University of Florida uses a 4.0 plus/minus GPA scale with one key difference from most US universities: UF uses E as the failing grade instead of F. UF's GPA is calculated by dividing total accumulated grade points by total semester hours attempted. WF (Withdrew Failing) also carries 0.00 grade points and is punitive.
| Letter Grade | Grade Points | Meaning | Standing |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 4.00 | Excellent | President's Honor Roll eligible |
| A- | 3.67 | Excellent | Good Standing |
| B+ | 3.33 | Good | Good Standing |
| B | 3.00 | Good | Good Standing |
| B- | 2.67 | Good | Good Standing |
| C+ | 2.33 | Satisfactory | Good Standing |
| C | 2.00 | Satisfactory | Minimum for Gen Ed credit |
| C- | 1.67 | Below Average | Does NOT satisfy Gen Ed requirements |
| D+ | 1.33 | Poor | Grade Point Deficit risk |
| D | 1.00 | Poor | Grade Point Deficit risk |
| D- | 0.67 | Minimum Pass | Grade Point Deficit risk |
| E (Failure) | 0.00 | Failing — UF uses E, not F | Academic Probation risk |
| WF (Withdrew Failing) | 0.00 | Withdrew while failing | Punitive — counts in GPA |
Critical UF Rule — C- Does NOT Count for Gen Ed: At UF, students must earn a flat C (2.00) or higher to satisfy General Education requirements, state writing requirements, or math criteria. A C- (1.67) does NOT yield this credit, even though it is a passing grade. This is a frequent source of confusion for UF students.
Incomplete Grade Warning (I*): An I* (Incomplete with asterisk) is a critical UF-specific designation. If a student does not resolve an Incomplete grade within 150 days, it automatically converts to a punitive failing grade — permanently affecting the GPA. An I without an asterisk follows standard incomplete procedures.
UF GPA Formula
GPA = Total Accumulated Grade Points ÷ Total Semester Hours Attempted
Example: MAC 2311 A (4.00) × 4cr + ENC 1101 B+ (3.33) × 3cr + CHM 2045 C (2.00) × 3cr = (16 + 9.99 + 6) ÷ 10 = GPA 3.20
CGPA Formula
CGPA = Σ (Semester GPA × Semester Letter-Graded Credits) ÷ Total Credits All Semesters
Non-Punitive Grade Symbols (Excluded from GPA)
The following UF grade symbols carry zero grade points and are excluded from GPA calculations: S (Satisfactory — C or better in a Pass/Fail course), U (Unsatisfactory — Pass/Fail), W (Official Withdrawal within deadline), H (Deferred — sequential or flexible programs), N*/NG (No Grade Reported — administrative placeholder). Note: U and WF are punitive and DO count toward GPA as failing grades.
"The University of Florida's grading policy is administered by the Office of the University Registrar. For grade disputes, corrections, or Incomplete resolutions, students should contact their instructor and the UF Registrar directly via the official UF portal at ufl.edu."
UF GPA Requirements, Academic Standing & President's Honor Roll
The University of Florida tracks academic standing on a cumulative basis. Understanding where your CGPA stands helps you stay in good academic standing, avoid grade point deficits, and work toward the prestigious President's Honor Roll.
| GPA / CGPA | Standing / Recognition | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| 4.00 (semester, 15+ credits) | President's Honor Roll | Perfect A semester — A- disqualifies; minimum 15 graded credit hours required |
| 3.50 – 3.99 | Dean's List Eligible | Excellent academic performance — strong scholarship consideration |
| 2.00 – 3.49 | Good Standing | Meets UF minimum — no immediate academic concerns |
| Below 2.00 (cumulative) | Grade Point Deficit | Must earn grades above C to restore standing — academic warning issued |
| Critically below 2.00 | Academic Probation | Risk of suspension — immediate academic advisor consultation required |
President's Honor Roll — Strict Criteria: UF's President's Honor Roll requires a perfect 4.00 GPA (all A grades — no A-) in a single semester with at least 15 graded credit hours. Even a single A- disqualifies a student. This is among the most stringent honor roll standards of any major US public university.
Grade Point Deficit Rule: A UF CGPA below 2.0 creates a "grade point deficit." To clear the deficit, students must earn grades higher than a C — earning exactly C grades will maintain the deficit without resolving it. Students in deficit status are urged to contact the Dean of Students Office immediately.
