How to Use
How to Use the LUMS GPA & CGPA Calculator
This calculator uses LUMS's official 12-grade 4.0 scale with the university's unique 0.70 and 0.30 grade point increments. Around 95% of LUMS courses use relative bell curve grading through the Zambeel system — once your letter grade is confirmed, enter it here for an accurate result.
1
Choose Semester GPA or CGPA Tab
Use the Semester GPA tab to calculate your GPA for one semester — enter course names, letter grades, and credit hours. Use the CGPA tab to combine all your completed semesters into your cumulative GPA. Do not include P, W, or NC grade courses as they have no effect on your CGPA.
2
Enter Your LUMS Courses and Grades
Type each course name, select your letter grade from LUMS's official 12-grade scale (A+ / A down to F), and enter the credit hours. Click "+ Add Course" to add more rows. Remember: A+ and A both carry 4.00 grade points at LUMS — A+ does not inflate your GPA above 4.0.
3
Get Your Instant GPA and CGPA
Your GPA or CGPA appears immediately. The calculator uses LUMS's weighted average formula: GPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours. A full course breakdown with progress bars is shown for each entry.
4
Check Your Academic Standing
Your result shows your standing at LUMS: Dean's List (3.70+), Excellent Standing (3.30+), Good Standing (3.00+), or probation warning (below 2.0). A personalised improvement tip benchmarked against LUMS's class mean target of 2.90–3.01 is included with every result.
LUMS Grading System
LUMS Official 12-Grade 4.0 Grading Scale
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) uses a rigorous 12-grade system based on a 4.00 GPA ceiling. Unlike the standard HEC model, LUMS uses unique grade point increments of 0.70 and 0.30 (for example, A- = 3.70 rather than 3.67). The maximum achievable GPA is 4.00 — an A+ carries the same 4.00 value as a standard A and does not raise your GPA above the ceiling.

Special grade designations — P, W, and NC: Pass (P), Withdrawal (W), and No Credit (NC) grades are recorded on the LUMS transcript but do not factor into your CGPA calculation. Exclude these courses when using the CGPA tab above. Only graded courses with letter grades from A to F affect your GPA.
CGPA = Total Accumulated Grade Points Across All Semesters ÷ Total Credit Hours Attempted
"LUMS's grade point increments of 0.70 and 0.30 are unique to the university. Do not use standard HEC increment values (0.33 and 0.67) when calculating or reporting your LUMS GPA for graduate school applications or official documents."
LUMS Bell Curve Relative Grading — How It Works
Approximately 95% of LUMS courses use relative grading administered through the Zambeel student portal. Instructors submit final scores and the system centres the class grade distribution around a target mean of 2.90 to 3.01 GPA. A student scoring exactly at the class average typically receives a B or B-. Grades shift upward or downward based on standard deviation increments — top-performing outliers above the curve earn A variants. A small number of courses specify absolute grading thresholds in their course outline.

LUMS CGPA Requirements & Academic Standing
Understanding your CGPA at LUMS helps you plan your academic trajectory, avoid probation, and stay eligible for scholarships, honours, and competitive graduate programme admissions.
Academic warning — may lead to probation or suspension
Graduation requirement: LUMS requires a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for undergraduate programs. The D grade (1.00) is the minimum passing grade for an individual course. Students must also satisfy credit hour requirements set by their respective school (SDSB, SBASSE, SAHSOL, SOE, SOM).

LUMS uses a 12-grade system on a 4.00 GPA ceiling. The grade points are: A+/A = 4.00, A- = 3.70, B+ = 3.30, B = 3.00, B- = 2.70, C+ = 2.30, C = 2.00, C- = 1.70, D = 1.00, F = 0.00. LUMS uses unique increments of 0.70 and 0.30 — not the standard HEC increments of 0.67 and 0.33. Special grades P (Pass), W (Withdrawal), and NC (No Credit) do not affect CGPA.
No. At LUMS, an A+ is awarded for exceptional distinction but carries the exact same grade point value as a standard A — both equal 4.00. The maximum possible GPA at LUMS is 4.00, and an A+ does not push your GPA higher. It is an honorary distinction only, not a GPA multiplier.
Approximately 95% of LUMS courses use relative grading through the Zambeel portal. Instructors submit raw scores and the system normalises grades so the class average centres around a 2.90 to 3.01 GPA target. A student scoring exactly at the class mean typically receives a B or B-. Grades above or below the mean are assigned based on standard deviation increments. A small number of courses use absolute grading — these are specified in the course outline.
No. Pass (P), Withdrawal (W), and No Credit (NC) grades appear on your LUMS transcript but are completely excluded from CGPA calculations. Only courses with a letter grade from A+ to F are included in your GPA. When using the CGPA calculator above, exclude credits from any course graded P, W, or NC.
LUMS requires a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for undergraduate graduation. The minimum passing grade for an individual course is D (1.00). Requirements may also include school-specific credit hour thresholds set by SDSB, SBASSE, SAHSOL, SOE, or SOM — check with your programme office for your school's specific requirements.
The LUMS Dean's List typically recognises students achieving a semester GPA of 3.70 or above. Being consistently above 3.70 across semesters places you in the top academic tier and makes you a strong candidate for merit-based scholarships and academic honours. Exact criteria may vary by school — confirm with your department.
LUMS uses a 12-grade scale with 0.70 and 0.30 increments and a class mean centred at 2.90–3.01 GPA. NUST uses a 4.0 scale with 0.3-step increments and no standard class mean target. UET Lahore uses a simplified 7-grade hybrid scale without A-, B-, or C- grades and applies Z-score normalisation. Raw GPA values cannot be directly compared across these institutions — always specify the grading scale when applying for graduate programmes or jobs.
