📊 FAST NUCES Grade Weight Structure
Sessional Work (Quizzes, Assignments, Mid-term): 50% | Final Examination: 50%
Enter each completed semester's GPA and total credit hours. CGPA is the weighted average. Note: minimum C grade (2.00 GP) in every course is required for degree completion at FAST NUCES.
How to Use
How to Use the FAST NUCES GPA & CGPA Calculator
This calculator uses FAST-NUCES's official 4.0 grading scale from the Academic Rules Handbook. Select your tab, enter your course data, and get your GPA or CGPA instantly — including a warning if any course falls below the minimum C grade required for graduation.
1
Select Semester GPA or CGPA Tab
Use Semester GPA to calculate your GPA for one term — enter each course, letter grade, and credit hours. Use CGPA tab to enter multiple semesters and get your cumulative average across your full degree.
2
Enter Your Courses and Grades
Type each course name, select your letter grade (A+ to F) from FAST NUCES's official scale, and enter credit hours. The calculator automatically detects if any course falls below C (2.00 GP) — the minimum required for degree completion.
3
Get Instant GPA and Academic Standing
Your GPA or CGPA appears immediately with a course-by-course progress bar, standing (Dean's List, Good, Satisfactory, Warning), and personalised improvement tip. Any courses below the C threshold are highlighted for repeat consideration.
4
Check if You Qualify for Dean's List
FAST NUCES awards Dean's List to students achieving a 3.67 or higher semester GPA. Use this calculator each semester to track whether you are on track for honours and to plan which courses to prioritise.
FAST NUCES Grading System
FAST NUCES Official 4.0 Grading Scale
FAST-NUCES evaluates students using a 4.0-scale SGPA and CGPA system as defined in the official Academic Rules Handbook. Instructors declare at the start of each semester whether they will use the Absolute Grading Scheme or the Relative Grading Scheme — both map to the same grade point values below.

Special Status Grades: FA (Fail due to attendance shortage), I (Incomplete), and W (Withdrawn) are special status grades that appear on transcripts. FA counts as a failure for GPA purposes. An I grade must be resolved within the next semester or it converts to F.
Important for graduation: Even if your overall CGPA is above 2.00, any individual course graded below C (2.00 GP) may be flagged as not meeting degree requirements. FAST NUCES allows students to repeat C-, D+, and D grades to improve their GPA.
Grading Schemes
Absolute vs Relative Grading at FAST NUCES
FAST-NUCES is unique among Pakistani universities in officially offering two grading schemes. Every instructor declares their chosen scheme in the course outline at the start of the semester — students know in advance which system applies.
Absolute Grading Scheme
Percentage scores are rounded to the nearest whole integer and mapped to fixed grade thresholds:

Relative Grading Scheme
In the relative grading scheme — typically used in competitive courses like Calculus and Physics — grades are curved around a Modified Class Average (MCA):
Class Average
Baseline Center Grade
Distribution
Below 50%
C+ (2.33)
Each tier spans ~5% above/below baseline
50% – 64%
B- (2.67)
Each tier spans ~5% above/below baseline
65% and above
B (3.00)
Each tier spans ~5% above/below baseline
"In relative grading, FAST NUCES first removes outliers using the IQR method before calculating the class average. This prevents extreme scores from skewing the grade curve — making the system fairer for the majority of students."
Grade Weight Distribution
Sessional Work (Quizzes + Assignments + Mid-term): 50% | Final Examination: 50%
Your mid-semester performance counts equally with the final exam. Consistent performance throughout the semester — not just cramming for finals — is the most reliable path to a strong GPA at FAST NUCES.

FAST NUCES GPA & CGPA — Frequently Asked Questions
FAST NUCES uses an official 4.0-scale grading system as defined in the Academic Rules Handbook. Letter grades range from A+/A (4.00) to F (0.00). Importantly, FAST NUCES offers two grading schemes — absolute and relative — and each instructor declares which one applies in their course outline at the start of the semester.
Absolute grading maps your percentage directly to a fixed grade: 90%+ earns A+, 86–89% earns A, 82–85% earns A-, and so on. Relative grading curves grades around the Modified Class Average (MCA) after removing outliers via the IQR method. The baseline center grade shifts depending on the class average: C+ if average is below 50%, B- if between 50–64%, and B if 65% or above. Each grading tier spans a 5% distribution bracket above and below the baseline.
The minimum grade required for degree completion at FAST NUCES is C (2.00 GP). Even if your overall CGPA is above the minimum threshold, any individual course graded below C may not count toward degree requirements. Students are allowed to repeat C-, D+, and D grades to improve their GPA and fulfill the C minimum requirement per course.
Students achieving a semester GPA of 3.67 or higher qualify for the Dean's List at FAST NUCES. This corresponds to an A- average across all courses. Consistent Dean's List performance also makes students eligible for merit scholarships and industry recognition programs.
The final grade at FAST NUCES is based on two equal components: Sessional Work (50%) — which includes quizzes, homework assignments, case studies, and the mid-term examination — and the Final Examination (50%), which is a comprehensive terminal exam at the end of the semester. Both halves carry equal weight, so strong mid-semester performance is just as important as the final.
FA (Fail due to Attendance) is given when a student falls short of the minimum attendance requirement — it counts as an F for GPA purposes. I (Incomplete) is assigned when a student cannot complete the course due to valid reasons — it must be resolved the following semester or it converts to F. W (Withdrawn) is assigned when a student officially withdraws from a course before the withdrawal deadline — it appears on the transcript but does not affect GPA.
Yes. FAST NUCES allows students to repeat courses in which they received C-, D+, or D grades to improve their GPA. The improved grade replaces the original in GPA calculations. Courses with F grades must be repeated to fulfill credit requirements. Repeating strategically — focusing on high-credit courses — maximises the CGPA improvement per semester.
Yes — completely free. No sign-up, no subscription, no account required. The calculator uses FAST NUCES's official 4.0 grade point scale from the Academic Rules Handbook, including the correct A- value of 3.67. It automatically flags any courses below the C (2.00) graduation threshold and works on all devices including mobile phones.
